The Client:
Trumbull High School is a public high school located in Fairfield County, Connecticut,
serving grades 9 through 12. It currently houses 1700 high school students and was
experiencing overcrowding in an older school building.
Client Need:
Trumbull High School was faced with two problems. Classes were being held in an older
building, built in 1971, that required renovation. In addition, Trumbull needed to increase
the number of classrooms in order to accommodate the school's growing population base.
The M Space Solution
Trumbull High School selected M Space to provide the school with temporary modular
classrooms. These classrooms provided the necessary space for the school during the first
phase of its three-phase construction project. This enabled the school to move the students
from the existing classrooms into modular classrooms, while addressing the problem of
overcrowding by expanding the total number of classrooms. Trumbull had a tight deadline
for creating the temporary space. The project was contracted in December and was completed
in March.
M Space built a 4488 square foot addition with four classrooms, girls and boys restroom
facilities, and a covered walkway that links the new building to the old Trumbull High
School building. M Space provided full-time project management working on the project
from permits to completion. One of the many advantages of modular construction is that
both the site work and manufacturing of the modular units occur concurrently to ensure
on-time completion.
The Result:
Trumbull High School moved students in to the new space right after the modular classrooms
were completed and resolved its immediate overcrowding problem. Trumbull then
began the next phase of the project, the construction of sixteen permanent classrooms and a
new cafeteria. M Space's modular classrooms and restrooms will be used to accommodate
students during this next construction phase, and again during the final renovation phase of
the original high school building.
