The M Space modular building project for the Clay County School District was designed as a “Plug & Play” system to meet the needs of the Florida Clay County School District for flexibility in mobility of the units. The plan integrated the non-combustible modular buildings with the new school under construction. The forty-eight (48) Type 11B classrooms are consistent in appearance, finish and functionality.
The ‘Plug & Play” system allows for portability of the units as needed throughout the district to react and solve classroom shortfalls and other district wide needs. The standard design allows for the district to plug them into whatever location they have prepared. The site was also set up to have readily accessible connection locations for close circuit television (CCTV), fiber optics and security systems – everything can get hooked up easily.
Utilization of the standard Type IIB structures with forethought into reuse and portability makes this an extremely cost effective solution for the Clay County School District. The ability duplicate this type of process for future projects provides efficiencies that result in cost savings. Also the ability to relocate these buildings as future needs require was another major consideration in the selection of modular construction.
M Space was able to produce the modular buildings and have them in a holding area ready to be installed as the site preparation was completed. This made for a smooth and efficient construction projects with the 41,472 square feet of modular classrooms space ready on time and on budget.
