Architectural Excellence:
Located on donated land next to the original school building and
seminary, the 43 unit modular building designed for the Hannan
High School created a complex that provided additional classroom
and administrative office space for the existing campus. Safety
and security was a key factor in the design phase of the project. The
35,856 square feet of building was configured so that teachers
would have an “in-line sight” of doorways and interior
class spaces from any class or open space. Elevated walkways
were put in place to provide protection for the children from various
weather conditions. These elevated walkways keep the children
from having to go outside when moving from location to location. The
seven buildings house classrooms, multi-stall bathrooms, computer
labs, and administrative office space.
Technical Innovation:
The buildings were placed 36” above grade to accommodate the
elevated walkways that provided for the “in-line sight” security
advantage as the children move throughout the complex of buildings.
Cost Effectiveness/Energy Efficiency:
The ability to locate the new modular buildings adjacent to the original
school enabled the new complex layout to utilize the existing infrastructure. This
included the ability to connect to existing water, power, sewer
and datacom.
